The Alexander Technique
The Alexander Technique is
a century old method of learning to "use yourself" better in everyday
life. The Technique reduces tension and can be used to relieve many
kinds of musculoskeletal pain — particularly back, neck and shoulder
pain. Gently, and without relying on exercises, the Technique helps you
improve your posture, voice, and movement, as well as the way you carry
out your everyday activities. It can also be used to improve your
performance in specialized activities like music, theater, sports, and
dance.
In the Alexander Technique the gentle guidance of the teacher's hands is powerfully transformative, and the teacher's instructions and explanations help you learn to apply the Technique in your daily life.

More Modalities
Eleanor is also an advanced practitioner of CranioSacral Therapy, developed by John Upledger, DO, and Visceral Manipulation, developed by Jean-Pierre Barral DO (including Neural and VisceroVascular Manipulation), disciplines inspired by Osteopathy which greatly enrich her work in the Alexander Technique. Eleanor began studying CranioSacral Therapy in 1986 and added Visceral Manipulation in the early '90's. She finds that having access to multiple body systems when working with clients increases her effectiveness dramatically.
